OK …I’m not feeling so talkative, so I’ve uploaded photos of some of the more mature crops on the farm right now. Since they are the focus of nearly every waking minute right now, I’ll let them speak for me.

Eddie,
If you have he time can you share any pointers in growing early summer squash in a greenhouse? Thank you.
Also interested to hear about your watering methods and times. You look like your doing fantastic! My eyes are open, thank you!
Hey Jared,
The greenhouse summer squash I’m growing is called Sultan. It’s a hybrid variety bred for greenhouse growing, being parthenocarpic (fruiting w/o pollination) and powdery mildew resistant. The trickiest part is getting them to germinate so early. I pre-moisten the potting mix, and then don’t water any more until they’re up. The heating mats also made a big difference. The funny thing about my greenhouse squash patch this year is that it’s too much squash for just me, the crew, and the interns, but barely enough for farmer’s market or CSA. I think next year I’ll have to either grow twice as much or none at all.
As for watering, I use a combo of movable aluminum lines and drip irrigation, depending on the crop. I’m still figuring out how to dial in my system.
