Andrew’s Story: Since I entered college, I tried to figure out how I could work outside, under the open sky, and also contribute positively to our earth and society. An interest in sustainable communities led me to consider farming as a necessary, important and desirable job, fitting my criterias.

After a two year intern/employeeship with a hometown farm, I felt confident and passionate enough to begin my own farm. In the past year I have confronted myriad challenges and triumphs, each small and special to me in their own ways. I realize farming operations are as diverse as the people who run them, and I am trying to find my own special brand of farming. It’s not always fun, enjoyable or even tolerable; but all the moments of fullfillment in this job add up and far outweigh the rest.

Plan for 2009 and beyond: I plan to develop our Community Supported Agriculture program as well as local interest of all types. Ideally we’ll support around 180 memberships this year, looking towards as many as 500 in the future. I plan to expand slowly as time goes on, and look forward to mitigating stress and maximizing enjoyment.
