Andrew,
I'm excited to see your blog. I am a freshman farmer - this year I'm going to start farming at my folks' alfalfa farm. Dad doesn't believe that I can make a living growing vegetables, but he's given me some space to work with. I'm thinking of starting with a half acre - unless I get out of control (fairly likely). I'm planning on growing a wide array of veggies for the farmers market and a developing local buyers' club that is looking for farmers. I also want to grow a big crop of storage beans - I grew just a few last year and they were sooo good in soup that I'm now in love with beans. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to apply for your Freshman Farmer program, because I certainly could use some help, but I only just found your site. I'll be reading your old posts, along with Ryan's, to glean any helpful info as I jump into this project feet first with only a vague idea of what I'm getting myself into. Wish me luck!
